From Marketing to Floristry: Interview with Milena from Flower Store

A New Chapter in Life: How the Flower Store Came to Be

Milena is full of ideas. However, the key to her success is her determination to implement them. She began working at a marketing agency in New York and in marketing for large hotel chains in Warsaw. After the birth of her first child, she decided to change her career path. She and her husband, Łukasz, purchased the Flower Store florist brand and, filled with renewed energy, began the next stage of their lives. Today, the Flower Store florist is one of the most recognizable in the Warsaw market. They accept individual and corporate orders. However, they are most easily found on the profiles of influencers who have taken a particular liking to the brand. We met with Milena at her flower shop to chat a bit about her work, flowers, and, of course, jewelry.

Tell us about your beginnings, what prompted you to change careers? Why a florist's studio? Hi! My floristry journey is quite spontaneous and certainly an interesting topic for a longer conversation, but I'll try to tell you about it in a few sentences. I've always loved working with aesthetically pleasing things. At that time in my life, when my first daughter was born, I felt I wanted to do "something more." I emailed Maja Bohosiewicz to create something together. I remember that day perfectly! I wore a dress and a unique necklace by Marni to meet her. After a few conversations with Maja, Łukasz and I decided to buy the Maja Flower Store brand. Only later did flowers become our passion and our life.

Which skills acquired in your previous positions have helped you develop Flower Store? I think it was an open mind, a willingness to act, and a willingness to learn. I learned everything from scratch, always remembering to be humble.

Everyday work and jewelry with sentiment

How would you describe the style of your studio? Which flowers do you use most often? Flowers are a huge passion, both for us and for those we have the pleasure of working with. It's hard to define our style. One day we're creating pastel dream bouquets, the next, rockin' black roses, a romantic wedding decoration, and the next, a grand arrangement for the head of state. However, on a daily basis, pastels and a romantic style predominate.

What makes you feel fulfilled in this job? I love flowers with all my heart, and it definitely gives me a sense of fulfillment. The great team we have at Flower Store and our satisfied customers also help me.

What's a typical day like for you at the Flower Store? We usually start the day with a visit to the flower market. We pick up fresh flowers and take them to the florist, where the entire process of cleaning and conditioning the flowers before sale begins. We prepare the display and orders, most of which we personally deliver to customers. We meet with our clients, discuss upcoming projects, and answer dozens of phone calls. That's a quick summary :)

Every time I see you, you're wearing a ring you never take off. What makes you so attached to jewelry? I've loved jewelry for as long as I can remember—it came from my beloved grandmother. The ring I haven't been taking off for many years is my sapphire engagement ring.
